Creating - turning ideas into reality - it’s good for the heart, mind and soul. Well, I reckon so anyway. Melicraft was born from a need to combine my talents, my passions and feeding my offspring - and over the years, this has been achieved in ways I couldn’t have imagined!

Back in the early years, I was a one parent family looking for a way to work and raise my children the best way possible. After a long time searching for the holy grail - a job that allowed me to raise my daughters myself - it suddenly occured to me. Hire myself!! So I did. It was a leap - but from small beginnings I now run my own successful business doing what I love to do, while my children grow along with it.

It all begins with a coffee, usually.

That’s where most of my new ideas come from - chatting with people about random things - and suddenly - I can make a tag for that. I can put THAT on a mug! That would look good on a cake topper! Works for me anyway. Coffee helps my world go round. That’s how mugs were added to my portfolio. You can never have too many mugs. I love graphic designing. Match made in heaven.

Most of the wedding things started from seeing how crazy the wedding market is out there. There are so many weird and wonderful ideas - but most of them would require a re-mortgage to fund. I wondered - can I cater for the small or the large wedding, but provide the “posh” looking bits to make it extra special? Yes is the short answer. Now, 12 years in - somewhere around 15,000 events have included Melicraft tokens, tags or stickers.

My love of graphic design and craft is another place where things developed into a popular shop section - beading and crochet patterns. Thousands of crafters out there are beading bracelets and tapestries, and crocheting graphghan blankets from Melicraft Designs. I’m proud of that!

You will find all sorts of craft and event themed products in my shop. Most of them encompass things I love to do - make, crochet, design, bead weaving - and never a truer word was uttered when someone once said…

“Find a job you love and you’ll never work a day in your life.”
